Momma Made Miracles

Would you believe I was once the smartest boy in my class, yes good ol' Steve ol' shit startin' ass, E's and G's way back before the grading charts changed to A's and B's, I was small but still the strong silent type, thin line walking thru the hood praying holy for a safe route home and a silent night, hell sometimes I even cried at night, laying there wondering if getting full off mayonnaise and mustard sandwiches was part of the lavish life, don't get it wrong momma was strong but I sometimes questioned if she had it right, but only a fool would question the contents on a plate cut in heart shapes from a Woman so great, so I ate, and in my mind I licked gravy that had fallen from my invisible steak and with the cut off crust I scraped the plate and I hummed a song that I no longer remember, tender T-Bone with Red Kool Aid, smile on my face speaking for itself "Thanks for the food that you made!", to me...wealth was laying in bed with a stomach full off the love that was sat before me, I stopped crying when I realized she was doing what it took to keep me alive, a grown man now eating real steak adding size with sides, but I'd go for a heart shaped mustard sandwich any day because I loved the way she passed the plate and said "Surprise Surprise!" Momma made Miracles!
