Trenti goes to his room and jumps in his bed. He feels more alone now. From the living room area, he could hear his parents and siblings converse about him. He was trying really hard to not think about it how they would find out what happened to Mr. Baker. Trenti hears them stop talking. His father leaves for work. While his bedroom is silence, he remembered the small jewelry box he had put in the cooler in the basement. He thinks about checking it out when everyone's asleep to see if it is still there even though no one really goes in the basement.
When everyone was asleep, Trenti goes into the basement to check the cooler to see if the small jewelry box was still down there. He opens the cooler and finds it in the center inside as it was before. "Thank God," he said. The necklace means so much to Trenti and he still wants to give it to the most beautiful girl in the school. Although he still keeps seeing Mr. Baker's body being dragged out of the house into the trunk like a movie replay. He feels that he is trapped in a lucid dream nightmare, but it is all happening.
Trenti closes his eyes and thinks about Staci to take his mind off that horrific moment. He pictures seeing her beautiful smile and how she would react when she gets her necklace.
