Mala calls Chris that night and informs him what her father said.
"You would have to pay 21 dollars through credit or debit, that could be a problem," she said.
"Why do you think it would be a problem?" He asked.
"Because you don't have debit or credit," she said.
"Yes I do, I have a Chase debit card," he said.
"But you paid in cash down town in the Chinese restaurant," she said.
"But that is our first time going out, I'd wish we would have gone out to a nice restuarant like that last year but life of problems gotten in the way for us," he said.
"Yeah it did. But... So... You are going to buy it online, and put your address in?" She asked.
"Yeah," he said.
"Oh God, I hope my daddy doesn't see you because he delivers packages for people," she said worrying.
"Hahaha, don't worry babe, most Amazon deliverers just drops off the package and keeps going, they often don't ring the doorbell. They just leaves the package there, so I'm in good hands with that," reassuring.
Sighing. "I'm glad. I don't want my parents finding out that you are joining our religion yet. I want to surprise them with it."
"Cool."
"I can't believe you you have a debit card," she said.
"Why are so surprised? it's common for everyone to have a credit or debit in America," he said.
"It isn't india. Teens are not allowed to have credit cards in India.
"You guys can't make money?"
"Yeah but kids and teens aren't allowed to bargain with family members, neighbours or even with strangers for small small chores," she informs.
"Wow," shocked.
"Yeah. But I have to go, we will talk tomorrow."
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too."
