After the funeral, the Agarwals moves on and Chris and Mala continues their journey together.
After Mala and Chris graduated from high school, they decided to get married, and get their own apartment together in South India to live there forever. Chris's parent's was excited for Chris that he will be out on his own with a girl he truly loves, but Mala's parents are not. Her parents feels that she is not ready to move out in the world on her own nor married yet, but Mala has made it perfectly clear and bold to her family that she will not be there forever, and she is not getting younger, she is getting older and wise to make her own decisions of being independent and responsible. Mala feels that Mara should do the same, since she is 19 years old, but she likes living there with her parents, but Mala hated it and she can not stand them treating her like a child forever even if she is an adult.

She wants to become a Creative Writing teacher and a nurse. She wishes that she can major in all subjects because she is smart and is good at every subject you can name, but it is impossible to major in all subjects.
They both will continue their journey together forever, and nothing will not stop them, not their parent's, family, no one.
