Moral High

I wanted at first to understand whether or not him and I would blend
Or whether we'd stand out in a crowd
Which mattered less and less the more I found out
And suddenly one day we collide
In body, spirit and in mind
It's like we're lifted on a cloud
Vicariously watching as the world below us is burning down
We floated above with no sense of tomorrow
Until we found one day that we're in a quarell
A dark storm circled us threatening sorrow, but yet we did not back down
Even cupid himself had come around, reached out to offer a hand, but we turned it down
We had separate frowns we were harboring now, descending lower and lower down.
Holding separate ends of a line that never ends, knowing that letting go is to drown
Though my whole world seemed to turn and spin me round and round and round
Before I could utter a single sound,
There I stood lost alone on hollow ground
And the gravity kept me earthly bound
Alone, holding on to my moral high ground
