S

More than meets the eye.

Long ago,
One hot summer night,
I went outside for a stroll,
And got the shock of my life!
Outside in the dark,
I tried straining my eyes,
I looked up at the stars,
And I got a surprise!
I saw something up high,
And just above the trees,
About a block away,
It made my heart freeze.
Once I realized,
Just what it could be,
That's when I yelled for,
My mom to come see!
She noticed the spot,
I tried to point out,
As it rose and fell,
And darted about!
It was pitch black outside,
And so hard to see,
We tried straining our eyes,
So what could it be?
"Oh my God, What's that!?"
We both shouted out loud!
As our jaws hit the floor,
At what we had found!
"It's a UFO!"
We both shouted as one,
As it darted around,
And seemed to have fun!
Who could we tell,
What we had found?
Who'd ever believe us,
With no witness around?
"Quick! get the phone,
So we can take a pick!"
"But you'd better hurry up,
Before they land their ship!"
That's when I realized,
And my mom did too,
If we got their attention,
We'd probably be screwed!
And if we actually managed,
To get away from them first,
They'd have every advantage,
Even know we're on Earth!
My heart started to pound,
And I felt kinda faint,
If I got a good picture,
I could sell it for bank!
But, back to the spaceship,
I was getting ready to sell,
That's when my mom nudged me,
And from her face I could tell!
It wasn't what we thought,
And now we could both see,
It was just a dumb kite,
It's line stuck on a tree!
The End.
