“Mxm”

8:54 on the screen, but time feels slower here,
“I’m good” she types at 6:14… but her emoji says she’s not.
“Owk great” I reply, too quick, too light,
Then at 6:44: “I love you ❤️🤗*” — words I meant with all my might.

8:05… a sad face. No words. Just weight.
8:24… “I mean it.” Because she needs to know it’s not fake.
8:26… “Don’t believe it nhe” — doubt in three words, sharp and cold.
I broke trust before. Now love has to prove it’s gold.

“Will try kukhombisa ngetento…”
I’ll try to show it with my actions, not just my tongue.
“Kona ngyati kutsi we will not be able to see each other more…
But we can try.” Distance is coming, yet I still want us to run.

8:53… the hardest text I’ve ever typed:
“I know I made promises n broke them…
I disappointed u a lot of times… and am sorry about that.”
Truth raw, no filter. Regret heavy on my back.

Then her reply, one syllable that cuts deep:
“Mxm.”
Not yes. Not no. Just tired. Just pain. Just “I’ve heard this before.”

So I whisper to the chat, to her, to God:
“My fav person… Mxm… Please forgive me…”

Love shouldn’t beg, but broken love does.
Love that hurt you now learns how to stay.
If distance is coming, let it find us trying,
Not quitting. Not lying. Just… trying.

If “Mxm” is all you have left, I’ll take it.
I’ll turn it into action.
I’ll let time + truth do what promises couldn’t.

Forgive me. Or don’t.
But I’ll keep choosing you, until choosing ends.
