My blood boils,
My head aches,
My heart breaks,
Anxious to make a decision,
my body shakes,
My tears pour,
The resentment is growing,
I cannot accept your bread crumbs anymore.
Enraged by the memories of all the promises you made—
All the days you said you’d show
and left us there to wait.
“Will he actually come today?”
Clinging to hope you’ll finally do what you say but, instead I’m left with immense disdain, exhausted by the pleading for consistency, a change.
You shower us with your guilt and shame,
your apologies that things are just so hard—
“next weekend, we’ll try again.”
But, time never waits.
one day, we won’t be there waiting for you to finally take action.
The ghoster gets ghosted,
No more tears or subtraction.
And maybe I’ll have to be the villain in your story,
and maybe in hers too…
but I know in my heart that it’s not true.
If you were in my shoes, what would you do?
Protect her heart or watch it break.
I have to choose her over you.
I won’t let her learn love from broken patterns and delays.
I choose her joy, her safety—come what may.
I loathe the goodbyes that could be avoided.
I wish you didn’t have a tendency to be avoidant.
