Grew up with an independent woman
Four sons she had to carry on her back
Eight years old me standing like lone wolf 🐺 man
No one seeing me off first day of school I bet you think it's sad
Open nose shoes telling my circumstances I had to 🐻 bear
Torn holed top sayin "dude am to old to wear"
Blamed my mom always I didn't know she's doing her best
If only I can take my brain 🧠 of now to then
Fourteen year old me got a casual job
All of the sudden I was grown up
Tried girls, cigarettes and alcohol
Doin stupid things got a underage girl pregnant
Quite far it went I was almost sentenced in the court house
The child died on the due date of labour
Drugs became his mom's friend and I became stranger
Throughout it all I did matriculated
The present me working hard to stay afloat
Having a son with alcoholic mom
I guess it's my version of rockin the boat
So he's the only thing I live for to make proud
Buying something with hard earned cash
It might not last forever but I won't take it for granted
The present me isn't what I had dreamt
Staying in line doing hard honest work is what I know best
