My Memories
'One fine Sunday evening sitting by the Window
Under a Candle light, engrossed in a novel
Sweet Memories prevailed
The light casting Shadows l would want to play with...
In the sleeping house l would be wide awake
Hiding in the study to read my favourite Novel
Despite mama's endless calls l would sneak away to my hideout
Lurking in the darkness were figures of my imagination
I seemed to become the Heroine of my Novels
Following an imaginery Prince
Making self belief that he existed in my midst
All the while my Soul knew the lies my Heart was subjugating too
Life sounds so simple
Loopholes and turning points overtake one's destiny
Living a deep void that only time would feel
It seems forever looking for my Man
Does he even exist or is he just a character in my books
Tension arising in the suspense of the writer
Time would elapse without my knowledge
Until the Candle would run out
Ohhh...if only l could continue my read
Suddenly Mama's shrill voice terrifying me in the night's peace
Not a single Soul awake
Time for me to turn in...Yawning away, l jump into bed
