I remember when I first heard of Corona
A simple disease i thought would never reach Ghana
I believed it was the headache of the People's Republic of China
A fast spreading virus made me forget
It made me forget Ghana highly depends on China
Importing all manner of goods from an infected China
Yes
The truth of accepting the consequences of importation
Had me block my sense of reasoning
Worry less about the absence of sound in the background
Spoken words and poems are of different backgrounds
Let's go back to my mistake....
Back to a mistake you equally made...
A mistake we all made...
Today..
That mistake has rendered the SUPAPOWERS powerless
They pitied Ghana for teaching under trees..
Today Ghana sympathizes with them for treating people under trees...
They placed strict restrictions on Cuba yesterday...
But today.. Cuba continues to deploy to them doctors...
Doctors seen as liabilities weeks ago...
Are now foreign national heroes on the go
In all this, I cry for my country...
I see the best world health systems crumple at the face of a virus....
And I refuse to imagine what our system would look like
The thought of it... gives me sleepless nights
I plead with you to help...
To help educate
To help contain
To help protect
Let's all make efforts...
As we await a vaccine..
Corona is real...
Let's fight Corona together
