My Old Life

My old stories are gone now
Never to see the light of day
Buried in a heap of lost dreams
And yet,
Somehow,
They fit there
They belong

My old love is gone now
She floated away
Like grass seeds on the wind
Easy, insignificant, irritating
Yet she mattered
To me

My old name is gone now
It held memories that were painful to shoulder
Of pitying looks, and empty smiles
It’s gone now, I buried it
It’s dead

The old me is gone now
I looked her dead in the eyes
And I shot her
Just like my name, my stories, my love
I killed them all
And I am not sorry
For after every death,
Life begins anew
