The clouds are gathered here today in my name,
Here to witness if I'll survive once more.
The winds churn the waves of my grey ocean
And the storm brews larger than before.
My head goes under the distant skyline
Again and again and again.
I inhale the burning salt of my last breath
As I welcome my bitter end.
I'm tossed around by the currents of my mind
Without the safety of the far off shore.
I'm lost to the peace of my pending oblivion,
Knowing this better than the times before.
I come to an understanding with my ocean.
This will be the constant in my sea of change.
I relax my body, my mind, my emotion, my soul
And as I do, I notice something strange.
The great Poseidon has taken mercy on me
As he flings my body against solidity.
I dare to open my eyes for the first time in years
And I see my rock, my safety to be.
I open my eyes to see him do the same
I match my first breath to his own.
I feel drenched to the skin but lighter than air
As I recognize the place I'd call home.
I take in this angelic figure before me
And I burn his image into my soul.
For I don't know how long this break would be
Until I'd have to leave to the place of no control.
His heart beats as steadily as my heart stops
For it is now missing, no longer mine.
The living rock, so solid, so sure,
And my own till the end of my time.
His hazel eyes searched the depths of my soul
And I recoiled, afraid of what he will see.
His sculpted lips formed a small smile
For he found what he searched for in me.
I do not know how it is possible,
How it is real or how it is true
For the following words that escaped his lips
Was: "I know everything there is about you."
From that altering moment onwards
He changed the storm into a pleasant breeze
But he will always be there, will always be
My solid rock in my rougher seas.
