MY TESTIMONY

Go shout it on the mountain,
Let the world look and see:
The testimony of the century,
What Christ has done for me.

The doctors gave their verdict:
"You will never again walk.
Paralyzed from chest to feet,
You will no longer talk."

Two thousand and thirteen marked my demise—
Just a young man with his whole life ahead.
Walking home from community college, hit by a car,
Left paralyzed on a hospital bed.

I lay there pleading to God that night,
Pouring my heart out from deep within.
But the first agent to enter was the devil himself,
Bringing darkness and the heavy weight of sin.

He spoke to me and whispered low:
"I can get you out of this bed right now,
If you will only do what your family has done—
Serve me, follow my will, and to me bow."

I come from a line of voodoo priests and witches,
A dark past my grandmother (and other family members) fought hard to escape.
Now the same wicked deal was offered to me,
By a villain hidden beneath a dark cape.

I refused the devil without a second thought;
No matter my pain, his deal I would not take.
Immediately he vanished, the room grew still,
Then a holy light broke through for my sake.

The atmosphere shifted, joy filled my heart,
And a voice spoke softly into the air:
"Because you denied the devil and broke from your past,
Choosing to follow me through your prayer,

I will not only pull you out of this bed,
I will do more than you can ever foresee.
I will lift up your name and make your life renowned,
Because you placed your trust in me."

My soul knew instantly it was Christ who spoke;
A peace I had never felt flooded my mind.
The assurance that my life was far from over
Left all my worries and sadness behind.

That very day, I surrendered it all.
Like a fast-forward video playing in view,
Christ began showing me all of my past wrongs.
I asked Him why, and He answered true:

"In order to take you to where I am taking you,
And show you the beautiful life I have planned,
I must first show you what I am saving you from,
And pull you out of the sinking sand."

That night He washed away all of my sins,
Reclaiming my spirit and making me new.
Though my heart failed for twenty long minutes and I died,
He breathed life back into me and carried me through.

Today I stand upright, fully healed and delivered,
An eye-witness to what His mercy can do.
He has favored and blessed me beyond all measure,
And given me life entirely anew.

So to you who are reading these words today,
Whatever burdens you are forced to bear,
I pray the same God who showed me such mercy
Will meet you right now and answer your prayer.

If it is healing you need, may He heal you today.
If it is deliverance, may He set you free.
May all of your requests, according to His will,
Be granted to you for the whole world to see.
