Nobody prays more than a soldier for peace,
I see my brothers slaughtered everyday like pigs,
Dead bodies cover the earth just like harlots fill the streets,
Bullets flying faster than birds flapping their wings,
Grenades thrown just at the sight of a living thing,
The blood of the innocent slowly absorbed by the thirsty earth reminds me of how lovers caress their skin,
Bombs launched just to scatter our enemies to bits,
Commanders shouting forward and no retreat,
Everytime I put on my boots and join my brothers on the battlefield,
I fight with all my might and will,
Never forgetting my lonely child I left with memories of me,
And my wife who I told tales of bliss,
Scared I am as songs of dirge paint my lips,
But I will continue to fight till the day we shall win,
And when the war is won I'll have to fight another one within,
The battle between me and my demons who are ready to kill,
But this time I won't fight with my guns but my Bible and my cross with me.
