When I was just a little guy
I never known my birth mom
Just known her true side
Growing up wishing maybe she can take a break
And see what sober feels like
But there wasn't a day of my life
I seen her with no beer in her hand
Wow I really can say
That you were drunker than your can
I just wish you were there
So you could really understand
The real reason why God put down His hand
Not to have you just
Put me somewhere and walk away
Leave the memories in my head
That you never wanted me to stay
Growing up never could ask God
Why am I living my life this way
It would have helped all these years
I've been living my life
In nothing but fear
Coming home from school
Never could ask you
Why all these girls are just
Making my heart bleed
Why you were never there to see
All the times I looked up
And never did see you in the stands
Wondering why I'm not what you call
Your little man
Wondering why I never can find love
Why the only thing I see is sad and darkness
And never doves
Lord tell me why I'm living my life
With all this tainted love
I never knew the world could be so tough
All the memories I'm left with
And that just isn't enough
But all you had to do was
Alcohol your problems away
Because you never did have anything to say
At the end of the day
About why you don't have me in your life
Maybe if I came with a six pack
I might have brighten your night
But where's all them better days
That are supposed to be coming my way
But it seems what that old man told me
Ain't gonna' come so fairytale true
Why am I always asking
God what did I do
But I found a reason to live
That all this beautifulness
Wouldn't be nothin'
If it wasn't for Him
But I still sit up sometimes at night
And think about
Why you wanted me to see the light
Before I ever got the chance
To breathe Gods life
