New year

New year new me,
Sunday’s altar call, you see me,
It’s Monday, back to sinning,
Next Sunday I’m at the altar kneeling,
But Monday’s I’m at the bar drinking,
New week but old things,
Weeks to months, it’s now a routine,
At the front seat in church nodding,
Pastors message was titled who are you fooling,
Was He talking to me or the girl with the short skirt smiling,
No! It can’t be me, I give the largest offering,
I pay my tithe and even go for soul wining,
I’m human so mistakes I’ll keep making,
After all grace is there abiding,
Even goodness and mercies are following,
Then pastor said “there is a way that seems right to man but destruction is the path it’s leading”,
I took a walk to the altar and for the first time I stood there crying,
I sang with a voice that had no rhythm,
But this time I knew the lord heard my wailing.
