NOSTALGIA

our favorite songs
are still on my playlist of melancholy
that never fails to bring back tales
of happy memories and promises
we made several seasons ago.
they still tug fragile strings
attached to laughters we shared
when we hugged the waves
under the silver moon
and we whispered to the stars
we will be holding each other's hand
till we're old and gray.
indeed,life is full of surprises
and magic tricks on its sleeves
that completely turns our fate around
when we are busy smelling the flowers
and basking on yellow sunshine of happiness,
taking everything away in a snap
and all we could do is gasp in disbelief
and drown ourselves
in a murky ocean of deep heartaches.
you see,memories don't die,
they are just neatly tucked away
in the attic of forgotten cobwebs
of tales from seasons back,
in between the pages of beautiful yesterdays,
wrapped in fancy rainbow colored paper
and ribbons of lovely stories
from somewhere back in time.
and they leave us souvenirs
that forever remain
in the pockets of our broken hearts,
even if time turns the pages into yellow
and covers them in dust of
sad regrets and aching nostalgia.
