Nothingness

He looks up into the grey sky
Searches for silver linings
Hope has come too far to die
Yet dewdrops are false beginnings
Drifting clouds heave a deep sigh
Morbid is the path life is leaning
Red eyes have no more tears to cry
Dreams once adrift are now sinking
Little minds are left to wonder why
Endless lessons yet no one is learning
Shroud can't conceal the end is nigh
As the earth folds up on our yearning.
Souls clamor for one thing none can buy
The world's womb is quickly churning
A flock of moribund sheep from a lie
While engraved saints are slowly turning.
We bottom out not from a want of try
Visions were shared by the discerning
We miss the answer right before our eyes
While all that we live for keeps burning.
