Have you ever seen the rippled wave
upon a tidal strand,
with its crested wash of white cap blue
encroaching on the sand
and have you noticed the tiny stones
dancing up and down,
within the swirling pools of spray,
wherever they are found
have you listened to the shoal slapping
loud against the clay,
while its foamy spread of residue
was washing bits away
have you ever watched the seagulls
as they are gaining speed,
soaring just above the salty splash
as surge begins to cede
if you feel the need to walk the shore
or if you get the notion,
you will find me settled in my dream
at a city by the ocean
