October is now half way through
The cold air has made its arrival
The season known for causing flu
Making people feel absolutely awful
Thanksgiving just passed for some
Turkey, mashed potatoes and yams
Corn, stuffing, cranberries - yum
Pies and desserts and tasty hams
Hallowe'en is just two weeks away
Costumes, make-up and the treats
People dressed up and on display
Going house to house up the streets

Eating candy until wee hours
Toilet paper tops trees, sour
With tummy aches, we fall asleep
Wake up to leftovers, breakfast sweet
Oh, how I hope this won't endure
Giddy sugar rush, feeling unsure
But memories made, forever cast
Moments like these, meant to last
