Oh My Child!

Part 1: Oh my child!
Oh my child, oh my child!
What have I done wrong?
What have I done wrong?
Punish me if you must,
but live my son, till I breathe my last.
Tears fall as a heavy rain
From the darkest of clouds
That surrounds my window
Where is the sun?
Oh how I wonder,
Where is my son?
Your passing came as a thief,
Unsought and unacceptable.
You came and left
Leaving hearts broken and unmendable.
Putting myself together is impossible
For gone is a piece of my heart.
Giving you life, the pain I endured.
Heavy I will remain from the day I am light.
You entered this world, a relief I felt,
Your short stay has burdened me instead.
Have I expected too much from you?
That you had to give up life,
Leaving me way too soon.
A teacher of language I am,
Teaching how to write, speak and live.
Yet you my son, with no words you spoke
A language your mother could not understand.
But how I wish I only knew,
to save and have you still.
I spoke to you everyday,
Hoping that one day you call out, 'Mum'.
I protected you in my belly,
Hoping that in you I feel secure
I even went on a new diet
Just to fulfill your cravings my child.
A bitter chocolate I have eaten
Adorable and sweet, yet only a little.
For as long as I live,
I will cry out in agony
Bitter is the taste of death,
cruel and unforgiving.
Part Two - I Am Strong
My Rio, you seemed unreal
As though it all happened not
Existed in seconds, memory everlasting
From the day I bore you
To the day of your passing,
You made me weak,
You made me strong.
After all, Elias is at home.
Every glance at your brother,
Thoughts of you appear,
Fruits of my womb.
He is well, if you may wonder.
I will look after him,
and also your father.
But you my son, please sleep well.
Behind the clouds, the sun hides
With time, tears dry.
Even at night, the moon smiles
Bringing hope, ending cry.
Thank you Rio, my darling
You have made me strong
after all.
Heaven is your home,
I am glad you're alright.
You are at a safe place now,
No hatred, no fight.
But Lord how I question,
'Why me?', 'Why me?'
Help me God, give me peace.
Nothing just happens;
All according to your will.
What more can I do?
But to thank you Lord instead,
for my Rio's life,
and for the test.
I know I have passed
For I was weak, now I am strong.
