Old Rugged Cross

On a hill far away, stood the rugged cross,
A symbol of agony and pain.
But for me, it's a beacon of hope,
Where my savior was slain.
The world may mock and reject it,
And consider it a shameful thing,
But I'll cling to the old rugged cross,
And the peace that it brings.
It's where the Lamb of God bled and died,
And paid the price for my sin.
So I'll cherish the old rugged cross,
And the victory that it brings within.
The road may be long and winding,
And the journey may be tough,
But I'll bear the cross, and I'll be true,
For I know it will be enough.
Someday I'll lay my trophies down,
And exchange them for a crown.
But until then, I'll cling to the cross,
And let its message resound.
For on that hill far away,
My savior gave his all,
And I'll hold on to the old rugged cross,
Till I hear his loving call.
