J

on my own since 14 I'm 50 now

On my own since fourteen,
I've seen things I wish I hadn't seen.
No one to hold my hand,
In this big, scary land.
I've learned to cook and clean,
To pay bills and budget lean.
No one to tell me right from wrong,
In this world so harsh and strong.
Loneliness creeps in at night,
I try to put up a fight.
But the silence is too loud,
And I can't help but feel drowned.
Yet, with every passing day,
I find a new strength to stay.
I may be alone, but I am free,
To make my own destiny.
So I stand tall and brave,
With a heart that's learned to crave.
For love, for hope, for light,
In this journey I call life.
