on the day of my english terminal examination, i missed the school bus. intentionally. unintentionally. i had no idea how to reach school and appear for the exams. my mother walked on foot along with me to the public transportation stop but there were hardly any vacant vehicles to commute by. i squinted against the sun at the distant dust trail raked up by a huge car on its way to us. all around me , lonely crickets were calling for company and in my chest, my heartbeat was fast and unsteady, even as my mind was having bizzare and menacing thoughts. after a while the same voice speaks again, the one shouting at the distance, but closer, like it’s coming along with the wind now.
"come darling one. i've been waiting for you."
even though i was still convinced that no one was actually ready to help me out, i couldn't resist asking the voice a question, although i really didn't expect an answer. i murmured, "who are you?" although i knew exactly who she was.
"i am your destiny."
