After hours of pain and gloom
Inside a labor room
When a baby cries
They know life arrives
Smiles and joyful tears
Shout the relief no one hears
To a mother, it's a day she's waited
For many days with a breath baited
Let tears roll down her cheeks
Who knows how it's been these last weeks
Today she is in relief
She shared her life because of a belief
That her baby would change her world
So today it's cries should be heard
Because it's alive, her prayers too
And raise it is the best she will do
Each passing year she counts
The best for him is all she wants
She cares and pampers him
Never wanting to see his glow dim
From strength to strength he grows
Even when for tomorrow no one knows
But hope abounds he will grow old
To follow each caution he's been told
To be a God fearing man
And the best husband he possibly can
With a good job and a happy wife
In a lovely home to share with his life
On this day that man counts again
Another year God let him gain
He is happy and God fearing
And has love that's he's been sharing
With a girl who makes him happy
So he cries even though he ain't in a nappy
But because her mother's prayers
Over those thirty years
Have been answered time and again
In sunshine and rain
He grew in stature and strength
So now he shares his life and wealth
And the world is better on this day
Because a baby cried in pain that day
Bringing joy to this world
And answers to all prayers his mother had
