One sleep until school, it's written on the door,
But what does it mean to be 'back like before'?
I'm feeling so strange, my clothes are all itchy,
I can't seem to settle, I'm jumpy and twitchy. Will my friends still know me? How should I act?
I've been home for so long now, had time to relax,
I've 'forgotten my words', lost social skills too,
But this was expected, that much is true.
I spent today counting numbers, watching films on repeat,
For here I found safety, this was my retreat.
But I know that tomorrow, to school I must go,
So I ask of you teacher that kindness you show,
I will be missing my family and feeling confused, academics can wait, for now wellbeing rules!
Be gentle, be caring and show me the way,
Together we will get through the pandemic someday ❤️
