Only love can hurt like this

Only love can hurt like this, sorrowful at gleam piercing a needle's deep,
Into the soul, breaking the spirit, to an outward pain of a heart bleed,
Drenched by broken promises, and a million thoughts of memories deem,
Unto a life, once held in love's dew, to the night veils of a spiteful dream.
Drafted from the shadows of an emotional drift, spaced out this misery,
Of a choice, leading an army of words to a selfish war, of pain and agony,
And left without a shield, the heart suffers the most without an infirmary,
For love, reckoned as a bright light, cast the fate of a greater adversary.
