Our Little Secret...
I sit by the window, staring up at the sky,
The air smells like a storm about to go wild,
The sun hidden behind a loaf of clouds,
Lightning strikes before the thunder cries aloud,
They speak my language and so do I,
The leaves whisper secrets of their lives,
I close my eyes, gentle and soft,
Listening for the rain, for that first drop,
The clouds finally break into a pleasant song,
Awakening the earth sleeping far too long,
The rich scent of mud when rain meets the ground,
Fills the air and everything it surrounds,
I look up to the sky, I smile to it,
Knowing all too well the secrets it keeps,
I hold out my hand and feel the shivers run down,
As the rain hands me letters of stories they found...
