Pain travels in our blood
It sticks to our cells,
Parent to child,
And again
It holds an angry face and smeers in loss,
We take it out on our children,
Because that's what we were taught
Pain is clenching fists and bottles broken
Pain is anything but our tears,
Because "what use is it to cry out with our hearts cracked open?"
So we carry our pain until the cycle stops
Until one child speaks up and says "thats enough"
Pain is everything but what you see,
Pain is you,
Pain is me
And pain is everything unspoken in the air between
