Painful Reality

I don't know how to get that image out of my head,
I walked into your room and found you dead.
My heart sank as I walked through your door,
you were cold to the touch as I pulled you to the floor.
I thought I had lost you, I didn't know what to do.
As I talked to 911, and you were still blue.
I can't imagine losing you, know these words are true
And distancing myself is what I know I have to do.
My life wouldn't be the same, if you weren't around,
Even though it hurts, I know I have to stand my ground.
I can't watch you kill yourself, please know your worth.
And how much your needed still here on this Earth
My heart it is breaking, all the emotions so raw,
I just can't erase the site that I saw.
Your life is to precious, please don't take that away.
Your daughter will need you on her wedding day.
Always know when your ready, I'll always be here
Your love is one, I'll forever hold dear.
I just need you to get help, because we all still need you here.
Poem dedicated to my best friend who I found overdosed on fentanyl.
