Penelope

It's been so many years ago
Back in nineteen ninety one
From my heart you're not gone
And sometimes tears still flow
It was just like any other day
Everything started out okay
The air was really getting cool
As you're drowning in the pool
Only two years and few months
But you took your last breath
They found your body floating
Your mom was surely fainting
You're passing was hard for me
I was asking how could this be
Questions stayed unanswered
My heart couldn't understand
I was fifteen going on sixteen
Death was cruel and mean
Grandma could take your place
Anger and hurt was on my face
But peace washed over my soul
Though I felt broken and unwell
I felt tiny hands touching my face
Like you're saying, it's a better place
I miss your way of saying things
But you flying with angel wings
You'll forever live on within me
Our sweet little angel, Penelope
This poem is dedicated to my cousin
