TOPIC: PERFECTING HOLINESS IN THE FEAR OF GOD
TEXT: 1 Peter 1:14-16
Key verse: 2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Get yourself perfected! Get rid of everything that is evil, corrupted or is a lie in your life. They all must leave your life for you to perfect this holiness and be made ready for heaven. You must cleanse yourself from all filthiness of the spirit (inward cleansing) and of the flesh (outward cleansing).
The inward cleansing includes getting rid of anger, malice, lying, pride, greed, covetousness etc. The outward cleansing involves getting rid of body adornments such as weave-on, eyelashes, false hair, dying of hair, wearing of trousers by women, putting on of jewelry, ungodly hair styles, wearing of body exposing dresses etc.
Having therefore these promises of eternal life, let us cleanse ourselves from all these ungodly behaviour and evil lifestyles. Live a holy life as God requires of us (1 Peter 1:16). If you want to be identified with Him, get rid of all these things because that is the secret of the eternal existence of God.
He has revealed Himself in holiness. God cannot cohabit with darkness in your life. This can never happen! If God is in you light, righteousness and holiness will fully manifest in your life. Light will shine in your life because that is His property. Satan is not like God. He is the embodiment of lies and totally covered with darkness.
He is the opposite of God. If he tells lies, he tells lies because he is the father of lies and lying is his native language. God is the origin of righteousness. He is the origin of holiness. That is why He is calling you to holiness. Come to righteousness! Come to holiness!
Learn the principles of holy living because that is the principle of walking with God. It is the principle of life eternal. That is the principle of fellowshipping with God. It is the principle of living with God both on earth and in heaven.
