Please Be Careful With Me

Please Be Careful With Me
I wear the posture of something unbreakable, steel spine, steady gaze, a woman who looks like she has survived cleanly. But survival was never clean. It was quick. Urgent. Instinctual.
When you learn grief too young, you do not get the luxury of falling apart. The world does not pause for a child’s devastation. So you learn to compress pain, to swallow earthquakes whole,to keep moving even while splitting. My arms were not strong enough to hold all of myself, and no one taught me which pieces were sacred, which were borrowed, which were never meant to follow me into the future.
So I carried the heaviest ones, because weight felt like purpose, and burden felt like love. They call me distant. They mistake my restraint for coldness.
They are wrong. I feel everything, too deeply, too sharply, often the wrong things at the wrong time.
This is not numbness. This is a woman who learned how to survive fire by becoming quiet about the burns.
Lately, I am learning something dangerous and holy: that my becoming matters more than my shame, that my victories are allowed to eclipse my mistakes, that the love threaded through my life has always outweighed the losses, even when it did not arrive in the forms I prayed for. I am learning discernment. Who to walk away from without guilt. Who it is safe to soften toward.
I am learning that many of the weights I carried were never mine, they were inheritances of pain, misplaced responsibility, old wounds disguised as loyalty. Please be careful with me.
You are touching a version of me that is still emerging, a woman unlearning armor, a dark siren shedding survival skins, a divine feminine remembering that strength does not require self‑erasure. This is not fragility. This is honesty. This is healing in motion. And I am only just beginning to meet myself here.
