Poet : Jotsna Jari
.
Still elusive happiness
swings in the mountain of tears
There was momentary warmth
near the icy chest
There was river, there was stream
I spent my time in flowing fountain
How much time has passed in
Jhau & thorn bushes
Still I paint Alpana alone
across the empty yard
No one knows that...
how much I use
the butter of pain everyday
Gradually faith is elusive night
I can not be unbeliever... yet

🔹 Alpana -
Alpana or alpona (Bengali : আলপনা) is a South Asian folk art style, traditionally practiced by women, and consisting of colored motifs, patterns, and symbols that are painted on floors and walls with paints made from rice flour, on religious occasions. It is common to the Bengal region in India, and in Bangladesh. Amongst Hindu families, alpanas may contain religious motifs with symbolic designs that relate to religious austerity, festivals, and specific deities.Â
🔹 Jhau -
Jhau is called Tamarisk or Tamarix.
aThe genus Tamarix (tamarisk, salt cedar, taray) is composed of about 50–60 species of flowering plants in the family Tamaricaceae.
In Egyptian mythology, the body of Osiris is hidden for a time in a tamarisk tree in Byblos, until it was retrieved by Isis. A reference to this is also made in the computer game, Age of Mythology, in which the head of Osiris is said to be hidden inside the trunk of a great tamarisk tree.
1400, from Late Latin tamariscus, variant of tamarix, of unknown origin, probably a borrowing from a non-Indo-European language; perhaps Semitic and related to Hebrew tamar "palm tree, date palm". ]
