My heart was shattered and torn,
With each beat, the pain was born,
But in the depths of despair,
I found a glimmer of hope there.
In the form of poetry, a balm,
To soothe the wounds, to calm,
Each verse a salve, to mend,
And bring my heart to life again.
Words became a friend, a guide,
Through the darkness, a light inside,
And with each line, my heart would heal,
To forget the pain, and begin to feel.
The beauty of verse, a balm,
To soothe the wounds, to calm,
And in the rhythm of each word,
My broken heart, again, was stirred.
And though the scars may remain,
My heart is strong, healed, again,
With poetry as the guiding force,
My broken heart can run its course.
So, I let the words of poetry flow,
Let them heal, let them glow,
For my broken heart can be restored,
Through the beauty of verse, adored.
