In the world of poetry, there's so much to explore,
From sonnets to ballads, there's something for sure.
Lyric poetry sings with a musical tone,
Haikus capture moments, in syllables alone.
Sonnet's structure is strict, with a rhyme scheme in place,
While limericks tell jokes, with a humorous face.
Free verse has no rules, it's a form of its own,
Elegies mourn losses, with emotions full-blown.
Odes celebrate things, with praise and with love,
Epics tell tales, of heroes above.
Acrostics spell words, with the first letters in line,
Villanelles repeat, with their chorus divine.
Narrative poetry tells a story, a journey of life,
Blank verse is unrhymed, but it still sings with delight.
Prose poetry is prose, but with a poetic flair,
Couplets come in pairs, with a rhythm that's rare.
Cinquains are short, with just five lines to tell,
Sestinas are complex, with repeating lines that swell.
Epigrams are witty, with clever wordplay in store,
Epitaphs are solemn, with memories to adore.
Tanka is Japanese, with five lines to share,
Petrarchan sonnets have 14 lines, with a turn that's rare.
Concrete poetry plays with words, and shapes them with care,
Ballads tell stories, with a melody in the air.
Ghazals are Arabic, with rhyming couplets that gleam,
In the world of poetry, there's so much to dream.
From ancient forms to modern flair,
Poetry has something for everyone to share.
