POISON

There is a tempting drink,
Being swallowed by my son.
Little does he know,
It contains poison.

That sweet little face,
Turns purple and red.
And those filmy blue eyes,
Fill with horror and dread.

His voice kisses my ears,
His cry, his plea, his final call,
As he drops down to the ground,
When the venom takes its toll.

Inside the emergency room,
The doctors try their best,
But eventually they conclude,
"No breath is left in his chest."

People scan the newspaper story,
With all the facts compiled.
The bold letters read,
' Unstable parent - intoxicates child .'

I wake up with a start,
Sweating all over my skin.
My mind is dizzy,
And I feel emptiness within.

It is the terror,
Which only closed eyes can see.
Every night ,in my sleep,
This dream, haunts me.

I try to expel it from my brain,
But to no avail.
How can I ever disregard the fact,
That it tells an honest tale.

So,it remains in my head,
As the killer of all joy.
And keeps on reminding me,
How my wife poisoned my boy.
