Pollution Procession

We run even the mightiest rivers dry,
And by our own hands ecosystems die
Whole species simply erased
Endangered, exploited, or displaced
We generously contribute to death and decay
In shallow pursuits of prospering for a day
We live the labefaction of earth
From breath of life to embrace of dirt
Enjoy the picturesque walks on plastic beaches
Indifferent, we defile earth's most sacred reaches
And yet we are indifferent still
For there is so much left to kill
We feed on plastic-organic fishes
And write our apocalyptic wishes
In vanishing wilderness and open pits
Now we choke on pollution, as it befits.
