When someone ask you what is Pop Culture? Just think of Kanye West. The reason why I say think of him is that he is the first subject that comes up a lot in Pop culture. Kanye West is part of the mass media world. He is part of the high culture environment. Kanye's lyrics express spirituality and that he wears expensive clothing that costs more than a person's salary. Even though Kanye dresses like a slob, he advertises a lot of fashionable goods. The idea of pop culture is what is commercialized on TV every day and it becomes the mainstream. When I was in class some weeks ago, my professor asked the class, what is pop culture? And what does pop culture means to us? When he told us to think about Kanye West, I kept meditating on the idea of pop culture. What does pop culture means to me? Well, pop culture is an idea of what we see every day. When we turn on the TV and see lots of commercial ads about cancer, diabetes, McDonald's, Coka Cola, Pepsi, sports, clothes photography, theater, movies, music... Everything we see displayed in pop culture. We are part of that pop culture. Pop culture is our life and at this moment of what we all are facing; and what social media is displaying all around us, is the coronavirus. The coronavirus is the next topic on the pop culture list. The coronavirus has become so popular now that I don't know what I should do with that topic, either I should write a book or create a comic book about the coronavirus or what.
