TIME
Too slow for those who wait,
Too swift for those who fear,
Too short for those who rejoice,
Too long for those who grieve.
Time is a burglar, on his toes.
Noiselessly, the rascal goes,
Steals our hair and its place
Drops wrinkles on our face
Steals our vigor and crams our head with experience
Steals the trustfulness of youth
Changing it for the bitter truth
Steal our friends by slow degrees
Leaving only memories
Steals our hope and daring bold
Leaving nothing but gold
But time deems this exchange and not robbery
Time takes our youth, our joy, our strength and all we have
And pays us but with earth and dust
