Promise Unkept:A Tragedy of Cold

By Simeon Austin David Pangu.
A billionaire one night did roam,
He met an old man, so cold and alone.
"Don't you feel the chill in the air?"
He asked the old man, with a worried care.
The old man replied, with a smile so mild,
"I've grown used to the cold, it's not so wild."
But the billionaire, with a heart so kind,
Promised to bring him a coat so fine.
Into his home, the billionaire did run,
But soon got caught up in things to be done.
Forgot the old man, waiting outside,
In the morning, he searched, with tears he cried.
Alas, the old man, no longer alive,
His body lay still, with no signs of life.
But in his hand, a note did rest,
With words that the billionaire would not forget.
"When I had nothing, I had the power,
To resist the cold, in any hour.
But your promise, so warm and bright,
Took away my power, in the coldest night."
The moral of this story, so true and so clear,
Promises should be kept, with nothing to fear.
For a promise to one, might mean the world,
So before you promise, think twice and swirl.
