Reconnecting with a Friend and Finding my own insecurities
This is how we feel
when a friend appears again
after years of quiet rooms
and thoughts we never said out loud.
I tell myself I’ll be strong,
even when my hands shake
trying to type the right words
to someone I haven’t seen
since I was a different version of me.
Eight years of loneliness
can make a person doubt their own reflection,
make them wonder if they’re too much,
or not enough,
or somehow wrong for being who they are.
But I’m still here.
Still trying.
Still reaching out
even when fear tells me to hide.
I found her again —
a piece of my childhood
I thought I lost forever.
And maybe I’ll say the wrong thing,
maybe I’ll stumble,
but at least I’m brave enough to try.
I’m learning to be free,
to exist without apology,
to love who I love
even when some people don’t understand.
Loneliness taught me silence.
Strength is teaching me to speak.
