As my eyes drift closed, I find myself in a room as black as moonless skies
Just before me, gleaming through the shadows, a pair of haunting eyes
Immediately I knew their owner, as though recalling a ghost from the past
The one who'd held me back and stifled my potential, face to face at last
They'd constructed the mountains I'd climbed, the walls in my way
Every dream shattered, opportunities squandered, day after day
They chanted the names I'd been called, breaking my will
They told me I was never good enough, any confidence I grew they'd swiftly kill
Even while barely treading water they'd pull me under by my feet
The one who kicked me when I fell, finally we would meet
As light rose and filled the room, so too came the realization of my deepest fear
Before me, now illuminated, was my reflection in a glimmering mirror
