The hurting words, they cut so deep
And left behind a trail of grief
A love once strong, now torn apart
By words that wounded like a dart
The pain they caused, it's hard to bear
The weight of guilt, too much to bear
For every time we shared a laugh
There's now a wound that cuts in half
I see her tears, I hear her cry
And know that I'm the reason why
The words I spoke, they caused her pain
And now our love, it's all in vain
I wish I could go back in time
And make amends for my past crime
To take back words that caused such harm
And keep her safe from any harm
But all I have is here and now
To make things right and somehow
To mend the rift and heal the heart
And hope that we can make a start
For hurting words, they can be healed
And with forgiveness, love's revealed
May time and grace help us to see
The love we once had, can still be.
