Come now Teresa
You're a mother now
I was thinking of us
so I thought I'd write this down
we were so long ago
we were just kids
I still don't know much
but there's no better time than this
"come on now." she tells me
"we're gonna be late."
she wants to go to the movies.
and i want to skate.
we did what she wanted
and i would never mind
just as long, and I could be.
by her side....
should I write her a letter
or give her a call
I think it better
if I do nothing at all
I remember sand in an hourglass
time slipping away
what can we do
when we've nothing left to say...
a ship in a bottle
sealed up for years
history's shipwrecked
by a storm of tears...
I grew up and am man now
not some teenage punk
wiser since I've been around
I no longer get drunk
we had our fun
in the back of your father's truck
it was my pleasure to have known you
I guess it was just
my good luck...
so come now Teresa
she doesnt like that I smoke
maybe id of oughta
seen it not as a joke
little things to get under her skin
and her clothes off
I didn't see it as a lose or a win
i just wanted her on top
and wished she'd never stop....
if I had known then
all now that I know
I'd change all of what happened
and remained single....
