When silence falls and thoughts take hold
And memories of the past unfold,
I'm filled with longing for things not found,
And my heart's sorrows once again resound.
With tears unshed and eyes that ache,
I mourn the friends now gone and take
A moment to grieve the love that's lost,
And count the price of every vanished cost.
I dwell on past grievances and woes,
And recount the stories of old foes,
Repaying the debt of pain I've known
As if the price was never fully shown.
Yet, if I turn to you, dear friend,
All losses are restored, and sorrows end.
For in your company, all is bright,
And the world is once again made right.
In the sweet silence of my mind,
Your presence brings a joy refined,
And I'm filled with hope and happiness
As I recall your love and tenderness.
So let the past be what it was,
And cherish the moments that still cause
Our hearts to soar and spirits to mend,
For in each other, we'll find a friend.
