Reminiscence

Lying alone, listening to the radio
Mariah Carey's singing can't let go
And it takes me to a time
When I didn't have a dime
But I hustled for a living
From early morn till evening
It was me and my boombox
And I sang in the subway
I was known as The Fox
They said I'll make it someday
But I knew the dream will end
It wasn't enough to pay rent
But oh I'll always remember
How I drew inspiration from a radio
On my birthday in September
I knew it was time to let go
It was the hardest ever choice
I had to obey my inner voice
It's almost thirty years later
I have regrets but I'm okay
In life we look for better
But we just can't take away
What's instilled inside of me
A gift that might set you free
