Risk the Wonders

National watermelon promotion society
would definitely say positive things on it.
But my sister
would always say their seeds eventually
cause a watermelon to grow in my stomach!
So,a middle aged man with round belly bump and sweet rosy pink smile meant
" melon to me."
As a child I would peep into the
abandoned white villa,in the deadly
hope of a boo scaring me sometime
My wondrous childhood involved
Sun and moon stalking me.
" Blow" , I rang the doorbell of
unknown,till blood oozes out
their ears!
I wondered how my brother
sreamed & declared me
to be the princess of dwarf society
since he walked over my feet
Not playing with teddies was a rule
The rule
to be followed by my brother and
not by me!
But how I wondered no matter what
the situation be
A hug from my mom meant, the
warmth
The warmth
that led my emotions to flow out
ease.
How she taught me,"if we believe in
oneself we can even
risk the wonders."
As a teenager how I understood
I could be no longer in my brother's
gang
How I needed to be more conscious
on my looks.
How loud laughs were prohibited
How sitting with legs apart was a rule
The rule not to be followed.
How I wondered when the"bhaiya "
living next door suddenly took to wear
" chudiyan" in his hands
and how my " Nani" declared
him to be cheap, characterless & colourless!
The same wonder hit my dad
when the boy he hated the most
Took to be the best stand up
comedian of today!
Finally, how I wondered
just good marks in biology
won't make me a doctor!
How seasons passed,
wonders passed,
realisations came.
Each time I took the voice for the right
how I was
degraded, disparaged,deprecated.
And when my neighbour's son
objectified woman
How he was
appreciated, acknowledged,admired
and bestowed with,"proud of u beta"
Hence I tried and wondered
The difference between you & me
will always exsist
And how my mom's teachings
"Once we believe in ourselves
we can even
risk the wonders."
