I am a mystery no man can grasp
I am present in your future.
I was a mainstay in your past.
I am eternal, unchanging; I will last.
My mood is ever changing.
I can be unforgiving and cold.
When I am unsettled
my wrath is a horror to behold.
At times I am gentle and sweet.
My caress can be a welcome respite
And my curves can be lovely;
I can sing sweet lullabies in the night.
But don't be deceived, my friend.
I cannot be tamed.
Many have tried and failed;
they fled, cursing my name.
My surface may be comely
But it hides secrets in the deep,
skeletons from victims past
and the treasures I still keep.
I am persistent to a fault.
My determination can cut through stone.
Though weather might still me for a moment
I will free myself with a mighty groan.
I am an enigma, you see;
my motivation is unchanged.
I have always tamed this land
and I will always be the same.
